Which club model should we be following?
We know Lady Brady can't get enough of telling us how wonderful Arsenal are but are they are realistic role model for us?

I just don't see us ever matching the likes of Man U and competing against teams like Man City and Chelsea for transfer targets

Borussia Dortmund are a team from a distance that seem to be getting it right. Buying hungry young players and have the understanding that the best will be sold on eventually while having a club that seems close to its fans.
Are we BARKING up the wrong tree?

That said I don't see the current owners embracing such a concept as it's not ego driven enough. And Brady lacks the football understanding to even contemplate anything other than her Mini-Arsenal ambitions.

I'm hopefully wrong, but if our owners and Brady see the club purely for financial gain (which I believe), then it's not hard to see why she fawns over Arsenal so much.

Rich owner aside, none of his wedge is ever now needed really thanks to Arsene and what he helped build there.

Rather just be us though, as I dread to think of us becoming like the clubs she loves, as Christ the plastic cunts those clubs are now supported by horrifies me.

We don't do models.
We lurch from one transfer policy to another as soon as the latest one fails once.
After the summer disaster it was PROVEN PREMIERSHIP PLAYERS (ir aging and cheap) for this January's window, no doubt it will change in the summer yet again if Fonte and Snodgrass don't work out.

a BAYESIAN based model would be best, with touches of Chelsea where it suits (i.e. not the loan system)

I don't want to compete with Chelsea and Man City. I want the extra money that the club has been making spent creating the best academy in the world.

The current academy is nothing special, but the idea of a footballing academy is part of our identity and it should be what we spend our money on.

In other words, the West Ham model.

Re: Which club model should we be following?
A big fear of mine is that we get the success we want, and our fans then turn into Arsenal's, where they basically have reached the stage of saying "Yeah, we know we are very, very, VERY good, playing attractive attacking football, qualifying for the CL year in year out, but it's just not perfect enough."

Fuck that.

I can't wish for more tha what was just said, follow the old West Ham model of putting alot of effort into developing our own talent, and giving it a good go, see where we go, and try to enjoy the ride.

I sincerely hope that are so called coaching staff were watching and taking note of Stoke at City last night.
It struck me that above all we do not work nearly hard enough and when we meet one of the better sides who combine hard work with skill we are totally found out.
Puts into sharp focus the disgraceful surrender to City twice this year, the abiding memory of this season

Trouble with that Darby is Man City & Chelsea and the other few will just buy the cream of the crop from any academy we create.

Don't want to follow any cunt. But if I must. Then it has to be Ajax. Total Football or fuck all. Even the Donkey thrower's in Catalonia had to nick it. To get within sniffing distance of Real Madrid.

Sullivan has already questioned the wisdom in spending money on an academy so we won't be following that kind of model under that cunt.

I've said it before and I may as well again. Chadwell Heath is being taken over by Crossrail and rush green isnt adequate for a 4th division club let alome a premier league club. They should be onto buying Crowland gold course next door and expanding it to at least a half decent size.
